Source is not easy to find...

Showing timeline filters
Recently I was putting together a time line graph very similar to the one Google Analytics has, and it occurred to me that I have been reinventing the week every time I faced the same problem. So it is time to record the pattern and hopefully come back to it next time.
So, the problem is very common: User needs to see data for the past month, past year, past week from the current day. What is the...

Rate that app!
Here is an article on iPhone app rating popup. http://mobileorchard.com/fighting-back-against-the-app-stores-negative-rating-bias/
Nothing really new here - ask every 10 days in the beginning, ask every month when your app is established. I am thinking on showing the popup on 3rd load at first, then every 10 days and hopefully the time will come when we will show it just once a month.
Common...

Call me old-fashioned, but I feel that usage of social plug-ins is a bit overrated. It is a known fact that in - say - wine store adding like button on a product page may increase sales by 40%, but you need to have a product to begin with. Building entire concept around likes is pointless.

Some mechanisms that create viral loops →
“Viral Loops typically center on:
Contact Lists — e.g., inviting new people thru the process of finding/adding new contacts to a contact list
Conversations — e.g., inviting new people by adding them to chats, events, groups, etc.
Media — e.g., inviting new people by sharing media/content with them
Incentives — e.g., inviting new people to unlock functional or financial incentives”

Users approach most products with an expectation of honesty. Things should do what they say, behave in an expected manner and reinforce their decision to use…

The Million Follower Fallacy: Audience Size... →
Out of the 6 million active Twitter users, the researchers picked the top 100 users in each of the three categories [Number of followers, number of retweets, and number of mentions]. Due to the overlap, there were only 233 distinct users on these lists. These were dubbed the “all-time influentials.” Some of these accounts belonged to news organizations or celebs, but others were...

The question of the day:
How annoying is annoying?
There is no such a thing as GOOD DESIGN for me anymore. It got replaced with JUSTIFIED DESIGN.
Are there cases where pushy interface with multiple pop-ups and instant calls to action similar to the infomercials on TV with “Call Now!” requests repeating every minute can be justified?
I really want to know if the number of people who actually got sucked in...
